The Lewisham college magazine

LIIAR Analysis
L: The masthead is one of the most dominant features along with the main image. It is striking yet not over the top, the alignment of ‘the’ and the cool yet sophisticated, basic font helps to create a young vibe about the magazine to represent the target audience. There is not a clear house-style colour scheme, it is just basic black and white, maybe the colours differ due to what the main image is but if it was permanently like this it would appear abit stand offish and boring. If I looked at the contents page and the cover page I would not be able to put them together due to the difference in everything; house-style, layout, font. The main image is a full body shot and shows the activities you are able to do at the college which would appeal to the non-student audience who are thinking about going to the college.
There is not enough text on the cover page, yet too much on the contents page. The layout on the contents page is almost too organised and looks like a standard information booklet, they haven’t really put the audience and representation into consideration.
I: The institution is Lewisham College which is clear in the logo situated in the bottom right hand corner, this could have been bigger as people may not know the college name by the initials LC.
I: The attitude of the college they are reflecting upon the college magazine is about winning and succeeding, the girls pose connotes stardom and success as the limelight is on her, she looks like she is proud of going to the college as she has succeeded. The magazine have created a good balance between the social side and studying side of college embracing the societies happening around the college and fun clubs to join.
A: The audience would be anyone who attends the college, also teachers and general staff may want to access the magazine for extra insight into the college. Also people who are thinking about going to the college.
R: The students have been represented in a positive way, as it shows achievements of awards and an article about a student’s journey from “cleaner to award winner” They are trying to embrace the idea that Lewisham College is full of young, talented, gifted pupils.
