I would promote the launch of my magazine using various types of blogging and social sites like Tumblr, Blogger and facebook to name a few. I would persuade people from the college to “like” the college magazine on facebook or “follow” the page on Tumblr to get the word out and promote the magazine even more. “Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message's exposure and influence” this means that i would have to think of a way of rapidly growing the popularity of the magazine. But how would I do this? These are just a few of the ways I have thought about using viral marketing to persuade people to get the magazine:
1.Give away freebies
“like us on facebook and get £2 off a ticket for this years Christmas Wyke Party!!!” post things like this which have something to do with getting money off something or getting something for free which will result in more likes on a facebook page or more follows on tumblr which will make the magazine more popular.
2. magazine teasers
Teasers or exclusive with no description or caption published on facebook, tumblr or blogger on the magazine website to get people excited, it would say something next to it like “COMING SOON AT WYKE…”
3. youtube channel
A recent study found that about 62% of college students download at least one online video each day, so this would be a successful way to market the magazine as people would also find it easier to just watch a video than read through a whole lot of information.
